About the event
This event will provide a run-through of the steps and strategies startups can take to navigate the fundraising process through the role play of investor, marketing strategist and founder/ principal.
Presenters and panel include:
- David V. Duccini - CEO at Silicon Prairie Capital Partners: David is the founder of a modern investment bank inspired by crowdfunding and powered by automation.
- Robbie Cordo - Co-Founder at Smart Founders, entrepreneur coach, master of introductions and due diligence
- Rick Brimacomb - Founder and Managing Partner at Brimacomb, business advisor and board member
Topics covered:
- “It seemed like a good idea at the time." From Crowdfunding Portal to Investment Bank.
- “You and your regulator.” How the MN Department of Commerce tried to kill us, what FINRA really does and how the SEC actually cares.
- “Satisficing.” Making decisions that are adequate but not optimal as we obsess about solving "today's problem. Understanding the principle of parsimony. Recognizing that nobody cares --- and that's OK.
Lessons learned:
- Raising capital is as much about marketing as it is financing.
- It is the SLOW conversion of social capital into financial capital.
- Money comes in three waves: (1) From people who know, like and trust you; (2) from people who know someone who knows, likes and trusts you; (3) from people who hear about you from paid (or found) media.
Q & A to follow. We encourage you to bring your questions, objections --- and business cards!
